Artist Statement

Born in Tokyo, Japan. I am a NYC-based painter, working mostly in oil and watercolor on location as the process of my painting. I like to observe sky, plants, animals, insects and people around me. I focus on a quiet sensation of color and atmosphere through light and integrate my emotions into the sensory moments with my brush strokes. My work investigates poetic sentiments by harmonizing my inner voice with visual sensation. Nature provides sensational moments: Logical but also spontaneous. It’s unpretentious how light and air move the space and create the color with each other. Observing nature begins the process of knowing the world and myself. I look for these discoveries and understanding through my art.
